Pretty Woman

The editorial explores what it means to be a woman. The essence of confidence, capturing the transformative moments when a woman fearlessly embraces her own skin, exuding a blend of strength and vulnerability.

1. What driving force motivates you as an artist and keeps you going?

I’d say my driving force is to just share my unique vision and try to highlight the beauty I see in everyday life. I have a deep desire to explore my self-expression and, in the process, make a meaningful impact on the world. That opportunity to leave a lasting impact through my work really motivates me. It's pretty fulfilling to know that my work has the potential to inspire, provoke thought, or even ignite change in someone's life.

I am also intrigued by the challenge of figuring out how to shed light on aspects of life that seem to go unnoticed or unexplored. In particular, I am interested in showcasing the beauty of my truth, which can take on various meanings depending on the project. More specifically, to capture the essence of emotions, ideas, and perspectives, presenting them in a way that allows others to glimpse my own truth.

2. Collaboration can be important for artists. Tell us about your team and how they contribute to your work.

For this project, it was a special collaboration with my amazing fiancé, and I absolutely love it every time we work on a project together. There's a sense of play that is incredibly fun and euphoric while we both push ourselves to new limits. We are also incredibly comfortable with each other, which allows a new depth of vulnerability and strength to shine through. I particularly enjoy the styling aspect, where she takes charge of hair and makeup, and we have a blast trying to create unique characters. This experience helps us grow immensely in our craft, and even as we move on to other projects, I strive to maintain that essence.

I believe that collaboration thrives when it is a full co-creation, with everyone bringing their best aspects to the table. A collective effort in the service of the shared vision, resulting in something truly unique.

3. Can you tell us about your creative process, from the initial idea to the final result?

My creative process is driven by spontaneity and a desire for authenticity. It begins with a constant flow of ideas that pop in and out of my mind when an idea strikes me, whether it's inspired by something I see or a conversation.

From there, the idea becomes like a seed planted in my mind. I let it simmer and evolve, exploring its potential. Then I dive into deep research, introspection, and experimentation. At that point, I am really just trying to cobble together a foundation to guide the project. Once I feel connected to the core of the idea, I begin the process of chiseling away, working to bring it closer and closer to the image in my mind.

Throughout the process, I also like to remain open to spontaneity and the unexpected. I let the work guide me, allowing it to shape its form. Kinda like a dance between control and surrender until the moment I am able to sit back and feel that sense of calm washing over me. That's when I know the project is complete.

4. What challenges have you faced in your career so far, and how have you overcome them?

I have encountered various challenges that have pushed me to grow and evolve. One of the more significant challenges has been the frustration that comes with not being able to execute a project to its fullest potential. That’s something I'm pushing myself on as I am relatively new to photography and come from a fashion design background.

Another challenge and an area I would like to improve upon is building a strong network and establishing connections within the fashion photography world. As an artist, we often play the lone wolf or take things all on our shoulders, but I really want to break free from that and create from a spirit of collaboration.

Then, on a day-to-day basis, there are also technical challenges, such as mastering lighting techniques, composition, and post-processing, which have also played a role in my journey. By embracing these challenges as opportunities for growth, I've been able to refine my skills and produce increasingly impactful work.

5. What led you to choose Mob, and what are your career aspirations in this field?

What sparked my interest in choosing Mob Journal as a platform to share my work was their commitment to showcasing diverse and cutting-edge artistic perspectives. They have a discerning eye for talent and a genuine passion for pushing the boundaries of art and fashion.

In terms of career aspirations, my focus within the realm of art and fashion is on artistic evolution, creative exploration, and making a significant impact. My ultimate aspiration is to transcend the limitations of a single art form and blur the boundaries, allowing projects to evolve into immersive experiences. I aim to express all facets of my creativity and avoid being confined to a singular focus. So, I also see myself creating a production company, which I feel will provide some freedom and help with the challenges of team and network building.
