The Death of Escapism

Photographer: Guy Rashkovan

  • "The Death of Escapism" explores a dystopian childhood under the shadow of war, where innocent moments are fractured by trauma and fear. The collection contrasts a utopian, magical childhood world with a violent reality. Through contrasting colors and dichotomous symbols, a visual language is formed in which sweet dreams collide with nightmares, and psychological survival mechanisms like escapism become tools of visual expression.

The silhouettes are dramatic and monstrous, blending motifs from the world of childhood - sleep, pajamas, toys with militaristic elements that allude to the invisible intruder of war seeping into their world.

This is a space where fantasy is not an escape, but a scream. A protest ,an attempt to reclaim the rightful place of childhood.

In my collection, the fabrics were carefully selected, featuring original prints and the tufting technique reminiscent of a soft, safe home carpet creating a sense of warmth that contrasts with the horror embedded within.
