This series explores the journey of self-discovery and growth among sexual minorities, specifically East Asian women, through a conceptual lens. The project is divided into three chapters: Born (innate identity), Constraint (struggles and contradictions), and Combat (resistance and resilience). Each photograph is a visual narrative reflecting the tension between cultural expectations and personal autonomy.
The red-toned lighting serves to emphasize the theme of 'battlefield' – representing both internal conflict and external resistance. Through body language, symbolism, and theatrical styling, the work critiques normative gender and sexual roles while celebrating the strength and resilience of marginalized identities.
This project is a visual and emotional reflection on what it means to be a queer East Asian woman navigating identity across intersecting cultural landscapes.
