Effortlessly Posing

1. What significant life experiences or events have influenced and shaped your artistic vision?

As I as a writer/artist/model change, my mode of expression will often also change. During the COVID lockdown I was incredibly-aware that my world, as I once knew it, was drastically being altered, as was my art. My responses showed up on what I called, “Lockdown Art Boards”. I covered big panels with a variety of assorted media and in these I sought to find and use my re-emerging and changing voice.

2. Collaboration often sparks fresh creativity. Can you share an example of a collaboration that led to an unexpected and exciting artistic outcome?

One of my recent photoshoots is a good example of a self-generated, creative outlet. I remember I had some fabric which had cherry prints all over it- I used it to sew up a pyjama set and wore it at a cherry-themed photoshoot led by Federico.

3. Walk us through a specific project that challenged your creative boundaries. How did you approach it, and what did you learn from the experience?

There have been a couple of photoshoots which required me to showcase some “artistic nudity”- those projects challenged my creative boundaries by confronting societal norms, questioning my morality, and served as a powerful tool for exploring themes of vulnerability and identity. Through those experiences, I learned how to transform cultural conversations around the human body and push back against the objectification of women in creative art.

4. In the ever-evolving art world, what do you believe sets your work apart and makes it unique or groundbreaking?

I believe I embody my own creative vision! I don’t just wear the clothes- I tell a story and create a mood that brings the clothing to life. I also try to advocate for diversity – this is more than just representation; it is my continuous effort and dedication to hold the industry accountable for some of its narrow standards.

5. As you reflect on your journey, are there any specific goals or milestones you've set for your artistic career in the coming years?

My key goals have always been living a healthy lifestyle, networking, maintaining professionalism, and staying resilient to rejection. I want to continue to create more meaningful art, and also be given a proper shot at “runway modelling”. Mastering my walk, maintaining fitness, and expanding my portfolio are going to be my main areas of focus in the coming years.
