1. What significant life experiences or events have influenced and shaped your artistic vision?
I think I’m still developing my artistic vision. I have loved visual arts since I was young. Taking drawing and painting classes in high school was a major influence in my growth as an artist. Those fundamentals are still valuable and useful in each photoshoot project I work on.
2. Collaboration often sparks fresh creativity. Can you share an example of a collaboration that led to an unexpected and exciting artistic outcome?
I love giving makeup artists freedom to create. I once bought different types of flowers and asked the artist to blend them into the hair and makeup. The artist only chose a few of the wide variety of flowers available to him yet the results were beyond my imagination and we produced some of my favorite photos.
3. Walk us through a specific project that challenged your creative boundaries. How did you approach it, and what did you learn from the experience?
Honestly, every project is a creative challenge for me. I try not to judge myself too harshly, but I try to push myself to see something new or different each time. I also benefit from the other members of a given team. I’ve learned to be more receptive because their input often sparks ideas.
4. In the ever-evolving art world, what do you believe sets your work apart and makes it unique or groundbreaking?
It would be amazing to do something groundbreaking. For now I just try to appreciate each opportunity to create and share experiences with other artists. My hope is that we produce something that we can all be passionate about. In that regard, each collective effort makes our work unique.
5. As you reflect on your journey, are there any specific goals or milestones you've set for your artistic career in the coming years?
Even though I’ve been working at this for over 10 years, I feel like I have just begun. I just want to maintain the passion and motivation to persist. My real goal in this is to feel fulfilled no matter where the journey might take me.
