A Day in the Life of Nate

Photographer: LLoyd Farris

1. What significant life experiences or events have influenced and shaped your artistic vision?

From my love of travels and meeting people I developed a love of photographing human beings. I’ve noticed that everything photo shoot is like traveling to a new place, totally different.

2. Collaboration often sparks fresh creativity. Can you share an example of a collaboration that led to an unexpected and exciting artistic outcome?

Recently I photographed a male model and I used gels on my lighting, which is something I have never done before. Some of the photos in this article contain photos of my use of those gels.

3. Walk us through a specific project that challenged your creative boundaries. How did you approach it, and what did you learn from the experience?

During my travels, I visited the country of India. I was selected to photograph a model there and she took me to a location of cultural significance. I had to use only parts of my equipment as some of it was not allowed on those cultural grounds. Through the experience, I was reminded to always have a backup plan when photographing models and/or clients.

4. In the ever-evolving art world, what do you believe sets your work apart and makes it unique or groundbreaking?

I believe what sets my work apart from other photographers is my past career as a counselor, because it has given me the skill to actively listen to my clients. In turn, I believe I am able to satisfy the clients photographic expectations by being a active listener.

5. As you reflect on your journey, are there any specific goals or milestones you've set for your artistic career in the coming years?

As I reflect on my journey as a photographer, a goal that I have set is to go on a Safari and photograph animals in the wild.
